CHDB ( 4/21/2008 11:37:15 AM )

Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation’s Rainbow Circle will present a workshop on addressing cultural barriers that prevent Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) persons from receiving optimal healthcare. The CME/CNE certified course, “Removing the Barriers: Providing Culturally Competent Health Care to the LBGT Community” will reach out to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals with specific information to help them create a comfortable health care setting that will encourage LGBT persons to enter the health care system. The full-day workshop for health care providers is being funded by the Sapphire Fund and the American Cancer Society.

Linda Creed is committed to promoting breast health, fostering the healing process and establishing a public agenda for prevention and cure of breast cancer. The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and School of Nursing continuing education programs are project participants and sit on the planning committee for the workshop to assure requirements are met in order to issue the CME/CNE certificates.
