Cancer Information Service The Cancer Information Service is the National Cancer Institute's link to the public, interpreting and explaining research findings in a clear and understandable manner. This database provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health information and health education resources. CHID lists a wealth of health promotion and education materials and program descriptions that are not indexed elsewhere. http://chid.nih.gov Community Tool Box The Community Tool Box website is created and maintained by the University of Kansas Work Group on Health Promotion and Community Development in Lawrence, KS, and AHEC/Community Partners in Amherst, Massachusetts. Currently, the core of the Tool Box is the "how-to tools." These how-to sections use simple, friendly language to explain how to do the different tasks necessary for community health and development. For instance, there are sections on leadership, strategic planning, community assessment, advocacy, grant writing, and evaluation to give just a few examples. Each section includes a description of the task, advantages of doing it, step-by-step guidelines, examples, checklists of points to review, and training materials. Philly Health Info is a free, comprehensive and objective health information service for all residents of Greater Philadelphia. The Community Guide, led by the independent Task Force on Community Preventive Services addresses a variety of health topics important to communities, public health agencies and health care systems.
