VITAL STATISTICS DATA

The vital statistics data available through PHMC's Community Health Data Base provide you with valuable information about births and birth outcomes obtained from birth certificates and information about cause-specific deaths from death certificates provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

These data are provided in four-year averages. They are available at the Minor Civil Division (MCD), ZIP code and county level for all of Southeastern Pennsylvania and by Census tract, neighborhood and health district for Philadelphia only.

The following vital statistics indicators are available from the Community Health Data Base:

Birth Data Mortality Data
  • Births to all Women
  • Births to Teenagers
  • Low Birthweight Births
  • Prenatal Care
  • Neonatal Mortality
  • Infant Mortality

  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • Breast Cancer
  • Lung Cancer
  • Stroke

Demographic and vital statistics data are available to members on a CD containing PHMC's own easy-to-use software program called the Profiler. The CD is compatible with any Windows-based operating system and allows for quick data aggregation based on user-specified County, Zipcode, or Census-tract areas.
